The year 4 children attended their first residential trip last week. As part of the children’s learning they attended Beaumanor Hall in Leicestershire for a 2 night stay. You may have seen them eagerly waiting to load the coach to set off on Tuesday morning and they returned on Thursday afternoon. The trip provides the children with the valuable experience of staying away from home and the opportunity to build on friendships, confidence and resilience with the use of various teambuilding exercises.
At the residential, my favourite part was hide and seek in the cellars because we got to find our friends and one of the rounds, we got to find our teachers. My favourite day activity was survival skills where you build a shelter and then test it. I loved the food. The cooked breakfast had lots of options like bacon, toast, eggs, sausages and beans or you could have cereal instead. For dinner each night there would be different things like pasta, pizza and you could have pudding if you like. It could be cookies or donuts or if you wanted a yoghurt you could have that. At night, you could play hide and seek in the cellars, the night time trail or reflective trail. We did bridge building, team challenges and much more. In team challenges you would work together in pairs and bridge building you would make a bridge and your team can walk across trying not to fall in. It was amazing. I would go again! - Macie B, Hazel Class
It was AMAZING! Seriously! We built dens for survival and bridge building, teamwork games, playing in cabins and more! The lunch was amazing and each night we got hot chocolate and two biscuits. We had dinner and breakfast in a very fancy room! Overall, it was FANTASIC! 10/10 ! - Ted S, Maple Class
It was a great experience. It has made me want to go on the year 6 residential even more! - Rosie G, Juniper Class
It was great. We did survival skills and got hot chocolate before bed! I was the first to brush my teeth. Team challenges and bridge building are some of the activities we did. I fell in the river! We had sausages and mash and pasta for dinner. It was amazing! We had so much fun! - Nora-Rae D, Maple Class
