Foundation Stage - Once Upon a Time
During the summer term Foundation Stage children will respond to stories with questions and tell a story using story language such as ‘happily ever after’. Last week they received a letter from Jack, along with some magic beans. Jack provided the children with instructions on how to plant the magic beans. The children took it in turns to plant them and as the days go by they eagerly watch as their beanstalks grow taller and taller!
Year 1 & 2 Topic Island Explorers
To launch the new topic 'Island Explorers', the children in Years 1 and 2 came to school in their summer holiday clothes for our WOW day last week. After assembly they needed to get their passports and check in for their flight. Boarding passes were given out by Mrs Hancock, their flight attendant. The children then went to their boarding gate and entered the aircraft. Each class had a good flight and landed on their Caribbean Island safely. During the day the children learned about their Caribbean Island and had fun preparing for the carnival parade at the end of the day.
Years 3 & 4 - Volcano's
Years 3 and 4 learnt all about volcano's. The children entered their classes to find a volcano had erupted ! The area had to be secured to keep the children safe. The smell around the school from the eruptions was explosive! The children were taught about the different stages of a volcano and layers of the earth. They all thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
Years 5 & 6 - Chocolate
On Monday morning, lots of the year 5 and 6 teachers put on an amazing performance of Willy Wonka! Mr George was Willy Wonka and invited everyone into his factory! Once we got back to our classrooms, we got to try lots and lots of chocolate! Everyone went crazy! We had to try and find the real Mars bar and the real Twix! Once we had done that, we held a chocolate button on the palm of our hands and watched Michael Rosen reading us a poem all about chocolate! After this happened, we got a sheet of paper with a snippet of chocolate brands and we had to guess the brand! It was so fun! After that, we all brought in a chocolate bar of our own and in our art books, we drew the packaging of our chocolate bar. We were encouraged to make it as detailed as possible and when I looked at everyone else's, they were amazing! We all had such an amazing day! - Maisie L, Year 6
